Plastic Crotch Rockets are Best (with go faster stripes)(and salopetts) :D
Metal Monsters are Best I.E. Costume Bikes...erm...sorry, Custom Bikes
Rat survivalists are best (wheres me matt black spray)
Whats your bent?
ok, I prefer proper old bikes with frames and chrome, so I will add my vote to the metal monsters bit - assuming that's what metal monsters are lmao

At the moment i have a fazer 600 only mods... acrapovic can and a sticker saying "does my bum look big on this"
If I had the time and money I would love to customise it totally.
My favourite bikes to look at are the ones where someone has customised thier bike in thier own back yard with a lot of imagination and very little money, but they arent always reliable and I NEED reliability.

I dont do plastic power ranger type bikes but a lot of my mates do. And they dont like what i call real bikes. But what we do agree on is we are all getting screwed by the filth and the government simultaneously. It doesnt matter what you ride lets just ride!!!

Good point. I've got 3 bikes at the mo .... 2 pretty heavily modded, 1 pretty standard. Now, can you guess which 2 ARENT on the road :( <sob> BUT I would also like to add that my chop in its original state WAS reliable as hell. So just coz they're modded doesnt mean they CANT be reliable too. Its just that they usually aint

Tell me about it mate. I've given up VERY early on in the game and the whole bike (with yummy flatsliders) will be handed over to Straightline Racing for proper set up on a dyno in the very near future! :o

Oi! No category for street-trailies!
Got: dead, too expensive to fix, Aprilia 650 Pegaso.
Want in ideal word: BMW R1200GS - totally practical AND totally mad....

'custom' bikes don't handle properly and aren't comfortable.
'plastic' bikes are the proper development of technology, unfortunately this is leading to them looking very similar.
Streetfighters are the only bikes left with a true 'chopper' spirit. The original choppers were standard bikes with all the unneccessary crap cut off to make them go faster. Those nancy boys in Easyrider have a hell of a lot to answer for.

Yeah, he did miss trailies didnt he. I ride a KLR650 and got a streetfighter project based on a yam crotch rocket in my garage, should only take another 2 years to finish (I aint even started it yet unless you count ripping off the plastics).

Flatsliders are a pain in the bum spent a week preparing a set to go on mine and the bloody thing would refuse to tickover at anything below 3000rpm everything backed off still the same a week of twidling and put a set of cv carbs on no problems at all

Sorry - but you're talking out ur arse. I've got a 'custom' .... GS/X/R lowrider which would be considered custom. As comfy as my standard gixer and handles like you wouldnt believe. Streetfighters were never intended and should NEVER have a 'chopper' spirit ... different ball park let alone game. And I think you're hevaily underestimating early choppers if you consider they were merely standard bikes with bits chopped off.
Apart from that ..... :p

So your lowrider is better than a standard GSXR? Cos I've never seen a 'custom' out do a standard bike in handling...
Choppers - a standard bike with all the crap chopped off to improve handling and acceleration (similar but not the same as 'bobbers')
Streetfighters - standard bikes with all the crap chopped off to improve handling and acceleration (similar but not the same as 'show bikes')
Early choppers had more in common with our cafe racers and both ideals are on par with streetfighters. Unfortunately Easyrider came along and everyone seemed more interested in 'looking cool' than improving the mechanics of their machine, similarly, streetfighters were black, no nonsense, go faster machines that have now mutated into tart's hand bags that cost so much that people are afraid to thrash them.
Streetfighter - nearly finished...

Correct, my lowrider DOES outhandle my slabside even with later 17" 3 spokes fitted to it. The centre of gravity is low, the bike is shortened and the usd front end and single sider rear you can seriously chuck it about.
Re choppers - taking 'crap' off ... how does that improve handling? Acceleration maybe but not handling.
Streetfighters - aggresive machines originally designed for performance therefore acceleration and handling ... yes I agree.
I dont see how you can compare 'choppers' with streetfighters. Choppers WERE the early easyriders feature bikes. About status, how long a front end you could get in and looking cool with yer mates.
BTW - did I mention I've got an 1127 tarts handbag too? USD front, one off fully adjustable yokes, earls oil cooler, dyna coils and leads, polished frame, swing arm wheels, trick paint job ...... ;)

One of the easiest mods to improve high speed stability was to remove the mirrors - they would catch the wind and give you speed wobbles. Early choppers had much more basic suspension, so the less weight the bike carried the better it could cope (especially unsprung weight) - excess weight is not good more manouverability either.
Choppers were around long before Easyrider - they were the American equivalent to cafe racers a good few decades before that ass-hat film!
Show us yer lowrider! :)

check out the article on www.gs4.co.uk under editorials - in its old guise ... this winter it will mainly be
1 going back to black
2 getting new trick slabs and USD front end with clip ons / one off (small) front fairing
3 new harris rearsets
4 matching front spokey honda wheel to go with the single sider rear
5 new seat
6 clocks!
7 new 'rear mudguard' with some trick mounts
8 getting some polishing done ....
I love it ....

I appreciate the looks of a well made chop but livin with one is another matter. I love muscle bikes GSX1400 no point whatso ever but i love em. (don't own one btw) but a new Gixer 600 would out perform the above A to B use less fuel etc.
So if you can get your head around not having nearly one an half litres of lump throbbing away between ya legs a rep would make more sense.
Tampon bikes tho are'nt they. every c**ts got one.

I've got a soft spot for a decent lowrider, like the XS750 I used to have (as posted elsewhere), black, long forks (6" overs) fatbob back guard...
... however, my real soft spot is for the original eighties/early nineties streetfighter: standard bike with crap kicked off (sometimes lowered seatrails), drag bars, occasionally a bikini fairing - it had to be able to shift as well and be no slouch at the lights (hence streetfighter!!) - summat like Mrs R's GT750 (see pic below)... that's what I call a streetfighter... not some flamin' race rep with its fairing ripped off - arsebiscuits!
OK, so Mrs R's bike's red not black, but then it's the Welsh Dragon or summat - it's got one attached to the top yoke – and was built in Wales by one of the Outlaws (Dai Griffiths) as far as we know. If it was black, it'd clash with mine (I'm at the primer stage folks and it'll look summat like this when it's done Dream Z13 (http://www.100-biker.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=874)) and that would never do!! :D

ive had it 4 years now m8, exellent 2 up, touring etc, handles much better than the 900 range (not so top heavy). 8 / 10

I must admit the T3 always handles as tho the front tyre is low on pressure. Style wise alone i like the look of the rs over the rest of the current range.
nice one.

Mine is my everyday transport - ok the 0.9 of a gallon fuel tank, sometimes causes minor headaches, but apart from that she's ridden at speeds fromm 55 - 70+ and returns around 40 miles per tank - around town down to low 20's.
I used to have shocks on here but with my f*cked back - just couldnt ride - so strutted the old girl - palyed around with tyre preasures and hey presto not unusual to do 200 miles a day .....
But i suppose times have moved on, but i refuse to conform....
Havent a clue what im gonna do to replace this ol girl when she finaly expires as there aint another bike ive seen since 1980 that i would use let alone buy

I can appreciate the technology and engineering in sports bikes, but due to a damaged shoulder, back and knees (nothing bike related) there is no way in hell I could ride one. Unfortunately I can't appreciate a goodly number of the sports bike pilots who seem hellbent on p*ssing of as many of the local populace as possible.I have a bike shop down the road from me which specialises in race reps and a good percentage of their weekend customers are the 'race-pipe,off the limiter and see how far she'll wheelie' type.Because of them I get grief from an old guy in the street who blames my bike for any m/cycle noise!
By the way,the shop's crap!
PS,no offence meant to the vast majority of race rep riders, just the d*ckheads I see every weekend!
(this'll stir things up.)

last race rep i tried to ride was a ducati hailwood rep (the first one) i buggered my back when i was 20 so i could EITHER reach the handlebars OR the rearsets but not both at the same time.
now i just like cheep rats that not even stevie wonder would want to nick.

ive seen them too friar,
im told that the riders of them two wheeled things live by some kind of code which bonds them in unspoken friendship and that all other owners of two wheeled things wiv engines are regarded with kinship no matter what engine is in the middle.
...dont believe it m'self mind.
