am i the only person in this world that likes the smell of Pears soap

its not just you mate, i like it too.
and its nice to hold it up too your face and see the world ( or your bathroom) in a new, soft, friendly way.
carbolic is nice too, but you cant see through it.
...shame really.

I like carbolic though, my gran used it for washing hair, body, clothes, everything

not sure if you can still get it

interesting that you can buy special problem skin shampoo stuff with coal tar i it which it v v v expensive, isn't carbolic the same thing???

I also like the smell of fire lighters and oil, but petrol makes me feel sick

In the old days when I was in my basic training for the Royal Navy you was given a bar of soap nicknamed 'pussars 'ard' bloody awful stuff, used to grate it into a bowl of hot water to do your washing and also use the same soap to wash with. Had to make sure your rinsed your pants out well, would take about 30 seconds to get a 'dhoby rash' around the crotch if you didn't get all the soap out.

So Pears might be preferable to that.

meths is a lovely smell, makes me nostalgic.

the coal-tar in the silly posh cosmetics is the same stuff, luckly the type of folks who buy beauty products may be pretty but theyre often a bit dumb.

We were given that army soap one year when us cadets were alowed to go on training with regulars.
I thought I had a social disease untill some sapper told me it was the soap. :o
